I moved from Louisiana after graduation in 2001 and I was checking to see where my favorite teacher at LSUSD was. I am saddened to hear of his passing. He was the best mentor I ever had. I still routinely bring up his name when I am practicing dentistry. Other graduates will remember "elevate, elevate then elevate some more". I hear this in my mind almost every day I practice. I am thankful for my time with him and Heaven has truly been blessed with a special soul.
-God Bless Dr Barrett

DR., BARRETT, was one of the better instructors when I went I was in the LSU Dental School (73-79). I learned many things from Dr. Barrett, he was always in a positive mood an would and would help you with any problems that would arise during your school time. I am sure he will be missed and I pray his wife recovers from his unfortunate long illness.

Mrs. Kathy and family,
I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. I grew up with Dr. Barrett, as you know, and my kids did the same, and it breaks my heart.....I still look back often on the picture I took of Kristen as a baby in the chair and Dr. Barrett trying to count her teeth and she wouldn't let him even look at them and it makes me smile.....and we both know what wonders he did for Kaitlyn...she has beautiful teeth because of him and his recommendation to her amazing orthodontist, Dr. Shannon Simons, and all the other doctors that were involved in her care.....we all loved him and will miss him tremendously....he was the best dentist and there will never be another one like him....please know that I am thinking of you and praying for you and please let me know if you need anything....sending you my love and hugs....Kerri, Carl, Kaitlyn & Kristen Tholen

Kathy, Karen and Ronnie,
I was grieved when I learned of Dr. Barrett's death and the vacuum that now exists in his place. He was larger than life to me. Jack saw him last at the dental school about two years ago and took a picture of him for me. My job at his office from '83-'85 on Tuesday and Friday afternoons was a joy. We had so many laughs together. My classmates from the LSUSD Dental Hygiene '82 enjoyed his classes that he taught. His wit almost made it seem he was doing stand up routines instead of lecturing to us! I will always remember him. I will be praying for you all as you travel this new path without him.
God Bless and comfort you.
Love,
Kelley and Jack Owens

Ronnie was my friend, my client, and my dentist for 45 years. He was a great man indeed, and I have often said he was one of the smartest people I ever knew. He knew a lot about everything. As a dentist he his work was unparalleled. As a person, friend, and client he was always so interesting to talk with and laugh with. Along with his lovely wife Kathy, we had a lot of fun whether in his dental office or in my CPA office. He will be sorely missed, and I was truly blessed to have known him.

Kathy and Family:
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Dr. Barrett was a wonderful man and excellent dentist. He was so friendly and always put you at ease in the dental chair. You and Dr. Ronnie ran a very friendly, cheerful office. I admired both of you for being so family oriented and sharing stories of your family with the patients. Dr. Ronnie will be missed by all who knew him. My sincere condolences are with you and your family, I will keep you in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of this loss, and wish the whole family my sincere condolences. Dr. Barrett was a wonderful man and important in my life. I can still hear him saying, "Call Rob anything, but don't call him late to breakfast!" There were also possibly a few sleepover parenting judgment calls where he kept us out of serious trouble, for which he earned my eternal thanks. At this difficult time, I hope it is some solace to know what a positive and lasting impact he (and Ms. Kathy) had on so many lives, including this one.
