Solly Brophy Boudreaux, age 93, died on July 25, 2022. He was born in New Orleans on September 28, 1928. He was predeceased by his Cajun French speaking parents, Russell Boudreaux and Pearl Orillion Boudreaux, and his brother Tony Boudreaux. He was married for 73 years to his surviving, “greatest wife in the world,” Marion Davis Boudreaux. He is also survived by his five children, Brophy(Susie), Terry (Cindy), Russell (Celeste), Linda Scallan (Robert), and David. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Attending Mater Dolorosa School he served as an altar boy and participated in various sports. He then attended S. J.Peters High School where he sang in the glee club. He left Peters early to enlist in the U. S. Army. After discharge, he studied radio broadcasting at Loyola. He worked as a radio announcer in New Orleans and Opelousas. He then worked for the Illinois Central Railroad, and then the Corps of Engineers. Later, he began a 35year career at American Cyanamid, beginning as a clerk and eventually managing the plant’s purchasing department.

He and Marion raised their family in Bucktown, where their children attended St. Louis King of France Catholic School. He was a faithful parishioner, and a founding member of the Ludovicum K C Council.

He greatly enjoyed big band music, and he and Marion were excellent dancers. He enjoyed time with his family, Bar B Qs (his chicken was the best), holidays, and family vacations at Gulf Shores.

Upon retiring, he and Marion moved to Diamondhead where they enjoyed golf, fishing and making new friends. They moved to the Northshore shortly before Katrina, spending several years in Beau Chene and the Windsor. Solly resided at Trinity Trace at the time of his death.

The family would like to express our gratitude to the the staff at Trinity Trace for providing excellent care.
