Salvador “Sal” Thomas D’Antoni passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023, in his home in Mandeville, LA. He was 81 years old. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 29, 1941. Sal lived all his life in the New Orleans area and was married to his beloved wife, Brenda Ledet D’Antoni, for 52 years. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans in 1960. He attended Loyola University and the University of New Orleans. Sal loved cars, auto racing, and was a fan and season ticket holder of the New Orleans Saints. Sal was a proud United States Naval Reserve member until 1969 and did a stint in the Army Reserve in the mid-1970s. He started his career at Chrysler at Michoud, assembling parts for NASA’s Apollo missions. After Michoud, Sal began working at D.H. Holmes department stores in 1968, becoming a Divisional Vice President in 1982. Later in his career, he worked at Decatur Hotel Corporation, where he stayed until his retirement. Sal is survived by his son Joseph “Joey” D’Antoni and his daughter-in-law, Kelly Cavanaugh D’Antoni. Sal was preceded in death by Joseph Salvador D’Antoni, Eileen Giblin D’Antoni, and his wife, Brenda. Sal was a Mary Queen of Peace Church member and was honored by the Archdiocese of New Orleans with the Order of St. Louis medal in 1998. Visitation will be at Greenwood Funeral Home (5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124) on Friday, September 22nd, at noon, with Mass at 2 PM.
