Rose Anna Keller

November 19, 1932 ~ September 11, 2022 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Rose Hill Keller peacefully passed away to join her Lord and Savior on Sunday September 11, 2022 in Metairie, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years Thomas Keller Sr. and her two sons Timothy Keller and Thomas Keller Jr. She was the beloved daughter of the late Cecelia & Stephen Hill, and the loving sister of the late Matthew Hill.

She is survived by her loving children Colleen Cloninger (Tommy) and Troy Keller (Arlea). She was grandmother “Nanny/Granny” to Corey Cloninger (Stephanie), Tiffany Cloninger, Lauren Russo (Dan), Erin Haney (Grant), and Maddie Keller. She was also great-grandmother “GG” to Eli Russo, Jude Russo, Sophia Cloninger, Mackenzie Cloninger, Logan Haney, Emmett Haney and foster great-grandchild Tony.

Rose was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended St. Mathias School where she met the love of her life, Thomas. She attended McMain High School where she was the president of her sorority, Pi Epsilon Pi. She and Thomas were married on January 15th, 1955 and spent 41 blissful years together. They raised four children together in Metairie and devastatingly had to lay their second youngest son, Timothy, to rest at the age of five. Despite this tragedy Rose continued to be an unbelievably strong, loving, and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Rose knew no strangers and couldn’t miss out on a good time.

She was a member of many social clubs including the Red Hat Society, St. Elizabeth Guild and St. Vincent’s Infant & Maternity Guild. She was also an avid lover of Mardi Gras and was a long time member of the Krewe of Iris and the Krewe of Isis. After her children were grown and her husband passed away she was known to “rat the streets” with her friends. Any given day you could find her out to lunch, shopping, playing a card game, or going to the casino. At least once a week though you could find her at home cooking a delicious dinner for her whole family. She loved life and didn’t want to miss out on any of it. She also didn’t want to miss out on any of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren’s lives. She attended every event she could and loved watching and doting on all of her grandkids and more recently great-grandkids. Her family jokes that she held on as long as she did because she didn’t want to miss out on anything. We know that she is now in a much better place, and finally reunited with her sweetheart and two sons who were undoubtedly waiting for her with open arms and hungry bellies.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie, on Thursday, September 15, 2022, starting at 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent’s Infant & Maternity Guild or Cancer Crusaders. We would also like to thank all of the staff, nurses, and care givers at Sunrise who took such wonderful care of Rose these last 4 years.
