Ronald Smith Lally Jr.

Ronald Smith Lally, Jr. was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was born on February 26, 1963, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Ronald Lally, Sr. and Frances Carr Lally. He was a beloved husband of 27 years to Vilma Rivera Lally.
Ron is survived by his wife Vilma Cherie and his children, Amanda (Kasra) and Marissa; his mother Frances and two sisters, Kathleen Galeas and Patricia Lally; his beloved dogs Mozart, MaGoo, and his granddog, MJ; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ron attended Nicholls State University in Thibodaux where he received a BS in Finance. Throughout his career, he wore many hats, but at heart he was an entrepreneur.
Ron was a loving husband and father, brother, uncle, proud future father-in-law, and loyal friend. His daughters filled his heart with pride and joy.
With a contagious laughter and spirited enthusiasm for life, Captain Blue Skies was a beacon of light. He appreciated spending time with family and friends, whether it was playing a game of Scrabble, watching sports with his best friends George and Coby, making anyone a cup of his Café François, or enjoying some good food together. One of Ron’s most treasured pastimes was watching the Saints games with Uncle Harold and Aunt Yayi (Auntie), but nothing was better than screaming “Who Dat!” in the Dome.
Inspired by his Christian faith, Ron was a man after God’s heart. He embodied his faith by greeting every stranger as a friend and helping anyone in need. Always accepting, he saw the good in everyone. The world is now a little quieter, but Heaven’s trumpets gained a soulful saxophone player.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM.
