Rafael A. Suarez passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 10, 2022, in Metairie, Louisiana. He was born on March 5, 1943, in Guantanamo, Cuba to Andres Alfonso and Cecilia Esperanza Suarez.
In August of 1961, Rafael moved from Cuba to New Orleans, Louisiana where he lived most of his life. He was the youngest of four; his brothers are Juan Manuel Suarez, who goes by Pupin, Luis Suarez, and his lovely sister Maria Caridad Suarez, known as Cachita.
He was an entrepreneur, owned a few auto parts store in the Greater New Orleans area: Uptown Auto Parts, Auto Shack, and Parts Pro. He also promoted various Latin artist in the late 60’s through the late 80’ such as, Felo Bohr, Rosendo Roselle, Fernando Albuerne, Eduardo Zurita, Armando Manzanero, El Gran Combo, Johnny Ventura, Carlos Matta, Orlando Contreras, Celio Gonzales, Rolando LaSerie, Alberto, Beltran, Moises Canela, Raphael, Julio Iglesias, Sandro, Fermin Iglesias, Mildred y Manolo, Hermanos Arriagada, Los Chavales de España, Los Junior de Mexico, Xiomara Alfaro, Alejandra Jaen, Lucho Muñoz, Los Galos, Los Angeles Negros, Los Pasteles Verdes, Milly y Manolo, Tania Zeas, Hermano Flores, Camilo Sesto, and many more. He also recorded most local and many Central American musicians in the 70’s and 80’s under his record label HoloVox.
He is survived by his wife Miroslava I. Pineda, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Rafael, Carlos (Yanin), Katina (Daniel), Mario, Andres, Miro (Joseph), Ivonne known as Cecy (Dylan), and Guillermo; grandchildren; Vanessa, Sebastian, Massiel, Isaac, Adriana, Grayson, Luca, Ashley, Nathaniel, Jack, Nicolas, Isabella, and Joseph; great-grandchildren; Maximus, Luna-Leigh, Viola, and Cesar.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lakeview Christian Centre, 5885 Fleur de Lis Drive, New Orleans, on Saturday, November 19, 2022, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by Christian Services at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
