Pearl Hom departed this life on January 8, 2018 at age 90. Born in the West
Indies, Pearl was educated at boarding school. As a young adult, she lived,
studied and worked in London before moving to New Orleans to marry Charlie
Hom. With Charlie, she owned several small businesses and was an integral
part of her community. She was dedicated to the Chinese Presbyterian Church
and served as Elder of the Church as well as Sunday School Teacher. She
enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, gardening, baking and Bible study. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hom, her parents, Louis and
Mabel Lyn, her brothers, Ramon, Ralph and Gerald. Pearl was a loving mother
to Frances Lee (John) and Debra Mengel (Charles) she leaves behind her
daughters and their husbands, four grandchildren Meredith, Remington,
Maxwell and Kelsie, her sister Yvonne and her brother Dennis.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at The Chinese Presbyterian Church, 2901 W. Esplanade Ave., Kenner, LA 70065, on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at church beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chinese Presbyterian Church in her memory.
