Margaret Ann entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the age of eighty-eight (88). She is survived by her daughters, Marcelle Marie Casadaban Highstreet (David) and Amanda Marie Casadaban D’Arcourt (Don). She was the devoted and loving grandmother to Mollie Marie and Emily Marie Highstreet and Alexander Michael D’Arcourt. She is survived by her brothers, Mickey Albanese (Fay) and Joe Albanese (Marion). She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary DiBuono Albanese, and by her loving husband, Marcel J. Casadaban.
Margaret Ann lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by those she loved. She was born on May 7, 1932 in Independence, Louisiana. She loved her childhood home and often looked back on her time there fondly. She especially enjoyed picnicking and swimming in the Tangipahoa River, an area that she referred to as “God’s country”. She attended high school at St. Mary of the Pines in Chatawa, Mississippi, where she was taught by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and formed many lifelong friends. On July 30, 1955, she married Marcel J. Casadaban and moved to New Orleans. There, the couple settled and raised their family. Margaret was devoted to her family and ensured that she provided her children a wonderful life. Margaret was an excellent cook and was known for her Italian Christmas cookies and Easter cookies (pupa con l’uova). Marcel (Broadmoor Post 215) and Margaret (Broadmoor Auxiliary Unit 215) were active members of the American Legion. Margaret served as president of her Broadmoor Auxiliary Unit 215 four times, among many other roles. Margaret and Marcel retired to Metairie, and both were active members in Our Lady of Divine Providence Parish. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
