April 1, 1933 ~ April 17, 2024 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

Louis August Barrios, Sr. passed away on April 17, 2024, at 91, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 1, 1933, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Nolan Octave and Rose Schrader Barrios.
Louis was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 60 years, Eula S. “Sissy” Barrios and loving father to his children, Louis (Anne Marie), Chris (Darlene), Keith (Tiffany), and Todd (Sheree). Louis shared a special bond with his grandchildren: Evan (Megan), Leigh (Danny), Brett, Brad, Blake, Brooke (Jason), Sophia, Gabrielle, Camryn (Hunter), Caden and Cale. He also cherished his great-grandchildren Henry, Olivia, Lukas, Jasper, and Paisley.

A man of integrity and dedication, Louis served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He later worked as a Quality Control Inspector for NASA (Boeing), followed by a nearly three-decade career with Technical Associates of New Orleans (TANO). His work ethic was unwavering, and his career was defined by his professionalism and attention to detail.

Louis had a passion for the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. He found great joy in spending time with his family, attending family get-togethers, and firing up the grill for barbecues. He was a dedicated band dad, marching with his four sons during Mardi Gras parades in the 1980s, and he enjoyed traveling to attend concerts, games, and church milestones for his grandchildren. His sense of humor and penchant for sharing "Cheesy Dad Jokes" endeared him to all who knew him.

Louis was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Schrader Barrios; his father, Nolan O. Barrios, Sr.; his stepmother, Gertrude Steppe Barrios; his sisters, Elaine B. Bordelon and Thelma B. Schexnaydre; his brother Nolan O. Barrios, Jr.; his stepbrother Robert F. O'Neil; and his grandson Cale Griffin Barrios.

Louis August Barrios, Sr., will be remembered for his Catholic faith, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
