Tribute

Lorraine Debelo Byrne, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018, at the age of 91. Born March 3, 1927, “Miss Lorraine” was an outgoing, friendly, and creative person who had many dear friends, neighbors, and enjoyed many activities. She was a talented floral designer. Due to popular demand, she started her own wedding flower business after retirement. For many years she designed costumes for dancing schools, pageants, and carnival clubs. She was a proud “Officer Emeritus” of the Krewe of Isis, a women’s carnival organization, formed by lifelong friends.  She studied for the opera, encouraging her children and grandchildren to pursue the arts and continue learning. Lorraine was still crazy about her husband of 65 years, the late Thomas J. Byrne, Sr.,  who she called “her blue-eyed boy”.  Daughter of the late Anna Manguno Debelo and John H. Debelo, Sr.  She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Byrne Palumbo, son-in-law, Michael; son, Kerry P. Byrne, daughter-in-law, Dawn, and daughter-in-law, Eileen Byrne. Proud grandmother of Laura Kay Palumbo, Michael Byrne Palumbo, and Daniel Patrick Byrne. She was especially proud of her new great-grandson, Declan Jude Fogarty, who brought her much delight. Lorraine was blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, “Tommy”;  son, Thomas J. Byrne, Jr.; mother, Anna Manguno Debelo, and her twin brothers, Nicholas P. and John H. Debelo, Jr.
