Linda Ann Dunn Heine

January 28, 1942 ~ April 12, 2021 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Linda (Dunn-Flynn) Heine passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Monday, April 12th, 2021 at the age of 79. She is survived by her four children, Cindy Heine (Charlotte), William "AJ" August Jude Heine, Jr. (Shannon), Marcie O'Dwyer (Joseph), and Susan Ellender (Jules). She was "Mimi" to her six grandchildren, Emily Elise Heine, William "Gus" August Jude Heine, III, Julia Elizabeth O’Dwyer, Jenna Elizabeth O'Dwyer, John "Jack" Sylvan Walsten, IV, and Charles "Will" William Walsten, as well as 2 bonus grandchildren, Caroline Garnett (Shane) and Andrew Ellender (Hillary). She was a great-grandmother to Amelia Garnett, Helena Ellender, and Catherine Ellender. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Flynn (Jerry Heston) and was blessed by countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, William “Bill” August Jude Heine, Sr., her parents, Louis Dunn, and Marjorie and Emile Flynn, her younger brother, Michael Flynn, and her in-laws George and Bernadine Heine.
In 1962, at the age of 20 years old, Linda married Bill and they spent the next 58 years of their lives together. They constantly reminded everyone that they were both each other’s biggest thorn in the side and truest love. In short, they could not live without one another. It comes as no surprise that only a year after his passing, Linda joined Bill in eternity (most likely greeted by an, “I told you so”).
If there was ever someone whose distinct purpose was to be a mom, it was Linda. She took great pride and joy in being a part of her children’s lives, involving herself in CYO plays and spook houses, serving as president of the Mother’s Club, and much more. As her children went on to have families of their own, Linda truly served as the matriarch of the family, drawing everyone together for birthday pound cakes, yearly Christmas vacations, and games of Fan Tan at the condo in Seagrove, FL.
There are many ways to describe Linda and the impact of her life. Those who had the privilege of knowing her remember her fondly as a mother of all variations, a force of nature, a redhead by choice, a spitfire, and to even some, a crazy lady with a generous and loving heart. She had a fierce spirit and a whistle that could be heard, both literally and figuratively, across the world. No matter where you were, she always knew and would ultimately be the one calling you home. But should you be late, you could count on receiving her infamous solitary eyebrow raise that either signaled a strong warning or evoked the precise truth. She did, as was made clear many times, have the power.
After suffering a stroke in 2016, Linda treasured time spent with her amazing caregivers from LiveGood @ Home Care Services, LLC., Oniika Howard, Cynthia Weatherspoon, and Ericka Davis, especially Trina Porter, her primary caregiver, best friend, and adopted daughter. As expected, Linda welcomed them as part of her family. They selflessly supported her, filling the last few years of her life with genuine care, consistent camaraderie, and endless fun, for which her family will always be grateful.
