Leonita Miller

Leonita “Nita” Sires Miller passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at her daughter’s home at the age of 102. Leonita was a native of New Orleans and resided in Metairie. Nita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert G. Miller, Sr., parents, Annie Kate Bolian and Henry Sires, Sr., brothers, Herbert, Milton, Henry and Adlai. Survived by her loving children, Jane Ann Roth, Robert G. Miller, Jr. (Sherry) and Ann Miller Sens (Edward), her grandchildren Kimberly Miller Mackey (Brandon), Edward F. Sens, IV (Courtney) and Catherine Sens Napolitano (Michael) and her great-grandchildren, Lane and Rob Mackey and Charlie and Annie Napolitano.
Nita kept herself active in younger years with gardening, bowling leagues and golf. She retired from JC Penney (Carrollton Shopping Center) as personnel manager. She was an avid reader and up until a few days before her passing was reading a new book every week. Nita was a true pet lover and always shared her life with either a cat or dog. She was also an active member at St. Henry’s Church before its closure. After retiring, she became a serious traveler going on 6-week trips with friends and traveling to Ireland, Greece, Canada as well as seeing the USA. Nita will be missed by extended family and the many friends she made along the way.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 12th at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00 a.m. until Mass time.
