Josephine Viviano Hogan

Josephine Viviano Hogan (lovingly known as Josie) passed away at home on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Walter J. Hogan, Jr. Mother of Christine Hogan McKinney, Walter J. Hogan III, and the late Maria Hogan Stentz. Mother-in-law of Rosina Hogan, William Cyrus Stentz Jr. (Carol Ann Stentz), and the late James Alan McKinney. Grandmother of Sarah Rose Hogan and Christopher James Hogan. Josie was the youngest daughter of nine of the late Rosaria Guarisco Viviano and Antonino Viviano. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Josie was a graduate of St. Augustine Elementary, St. Joseph High School, and Soule Business School. Josie was a founding member and parishioner of St. Jerome Catholic Church of Kenner. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Kenner. Josie was the family “saint” who had a strong devotion to Mary and prayed unceasingly for those in need. She had a healing touch, generous heart, and infectious laughter that made everyone who encountered her love her. Josie loved life and was full of laughter. She particularly enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family during holidays, football games, and especially Mardi Gras. Josie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Monday, May 15, 2023, starting at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass in the chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
