Joseph Erwin Pfeffer stepped into the Lord’s Kingdom Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Joseph was born on July 11, 1932 in New Orleans, La. to Erwin and Florence Pfeffer. He had a younger brother, Floyd. Joseph lived in the New Orleans area his entire life.
Joseph served in the Navy, which lead him to his profession of accounting. Accounting was his passion and life long career, but the only thing he loved more than his career was his beloved wife of 42 years, Claudia. It was because of accounting that he met Claudia because she too was an accountant.
Joseph, known as “Joe” had a keen eye for numbers but also had a talent for photography. He was a talented photographer, and when he took a picture, he was going for perfection.
Because he was never without a mechanical pencil, he could sketch, and quite well at that.
Joe sketched for his own pleasure and everywhere he went you could find his handy work either on a paper napkin at a restaurant or the back of an envelope.
Joe’s open friendly personality gave him the ability to never meet a stranger. Many people crossed his path who then became tax clients and good friends through the years.
Joe enjoyed traveling. He and Claudia were blessed to have taken Alaskan Cruises, visit Hawaii and Jamaica.
Joseph married Claudia in June 1979 and gained two-step children, Christine and Tommy Richardson. Previously he was married to
Betty Jean Duncan and adopted his first daughter, Sandra then later had a second daughter, June.
Joe was preceded in death by this mother and father, brother and his beloved Claudia.
He is survived by his daughters Sandra Moliere (David), June Beste(Tim), stepchildren Christine Hickson(Jeff), Tommy Richardson(Sharon), sister -in-law Sybil, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren along with nieces, a nephew and cousins.
His absence has created a great pain in our hearts. He did not always openly express his faith in the Lord but it was very profound in his last days. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Saturday, August 6, 2022, starting at 11:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
