Isabelle Altmyer Hill

Isabelle Altmyer Hill, passed away on August 28, 2021, at the age of 92. Isabelle was born in New Orleans, LA on December 15, 1928, to Frank J. Altmyer, Jr. and Isabelle McMahon Altmyer.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years Arthur L. Hill, Jr., her parents, and siblings; Catherine Altmyer O’Connor, Francis J. Altmyer, Peter J. Altmyer, Roy R. Altmyer, and Jean Ann Altmyer.

She is survived by her three daughters: Emily Hill McGaughey (Jerry), Janet Hill Bourgeois (Des) and Jean Hill Barthel (Jeff). She is also survived by her five grandchildren Jerilyn McGaughey Smith (David), Jeffrey McGaughey, Julie Stewart, Zachery Barthel, and Des S. Bourgeois and four great-grandchildren Brandon Smith, Sean Smith, Austin Huesman, and Isaac Bourgeois. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

She retired from Graybar Electric Company, as a Senior CRT Operator in 1993, after 31 years of service. Coming from a large family, family was everything to her! She loved spending time with her daughters, but always wanted to know what the other two were doing before committing to an outing - either looking for a better opportunity or just to get everyone together (always trying to change up the plans)! She loved celebrating birthdays, holidays and every other special occasion, as well as attending Vigil Mass every Saturday. She also enjoyed playing bingo, card games, and phone calls with longtime friends. Over the past year, she mostly enjoyed weekends in Waveland, which brought back many memories of her younger years.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks and gratitude to her caregiver, Sharone, and to the staff of Poydras Home and Anvoi Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass in the chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
