Ida Ann Mokisel Zainey

Ida Ann Mokisel Zainey, age 96, passed away on April 6, 2021. She is survived by and was a loving, dedicated mother to her sons, Robert (Jacquelyn), Jay (Joy), Michael (Lisa), and daughter, Noel Owens (Jimmy), grandmother of Margaret Roux (Tre’), Dr. Scott Zainey (Ann), Jay Christopher Zainey, Jr. (Casey), Kathryn Gonski (Ryan), Andrew Zainey, and great grandmother of Louis Roux, Henry Roux, Jacques Zainey, Marie Zainey, Caroline Zainey, Miriam Gonski and George Gonski. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, father Frank, mother Edna, Brother Charles, and sister Rose. The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Drs. Mike Pappas, Chuck Cucciarra, Kevin Russ, Natalie Voithofer, Michele Gonzaba, Aimee Moran and their staffs for all of their efforts and care. The family would also like to thank the owners and staff of Quality Care for their help and thoughtfulness and share its appreciation to Notre Dame Hospice. Special thanks to Cynthia Hatfield, primary care giver for over 12 years; we simply couldn’t have done it without her. Ida was born in So. Norwalk, CT, on March 3,1925. She with her husband, and first born child, Robert, relocated to the Greater New Orleans area in 1948. She was an active member of the Syrian Lebanese American Club of New Orleans, the East Jefferson Hospital Auxiliary, and past president of the Metairie Woman’s Club. Her life was devoted to her family, faith and friends and she will be missed and loved forever. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Angela Merici Church at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. The family asks that masks be worn by all participating. Burial will be held in Calvary Mausoleum, St. Patrick Cemetery #1. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Andrew’s Village, P.O.
