Dorris Paul Sylvester

Dorris Paul Sylvester passed away peacefully at home with his family on Thursday, April 19, 2018. He was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on April 23, 1932. Beloved husband of 65 years to Marie Louise LaFleur Sylvester. Loving father of Debra S. Cadis (the late Michael) and Bryant P. Sylvester (wife Lisa). Proud grandfather of Nicholas M. Cadis, Rachel E. Cadis, Ashley S. Michel (Ryan) and Aimee L. Sylvester. Son of the late George and Mattie Sylvester. Brother of the late Neala S. Fontenot and Pierre Sylvester.
Dorris found great joy in his job as a Waiter. He served faithfully at Galatoire’s Restaurant for over 40 years. Prior to that he worked at the Roosevelt Hotel for 26 years, beginning his career in the Blue Room when he was 15 years old.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018. The visitation will begin at 8:30 AM. Burial services at Greenwood Cemetery.
