Tribute

David Carey Workman, 58, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. David was born and raised in New Orleans, where he attended Redeemer High School and Delgado Community College. He has been a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 25 years where he and his wife, Michelle Peters Workman, raised their children, Emily Elizabeth Workman and Spencer Carey Workman. David was the owner of ESS Design Services and enjoyed using his talents to design and draft plans for residential and commercial buildings throughout the Greater New Orleans area and beyond. He followed in his father’s footsteps of serving others by joining the Mandeville Lion’s Club where he served as a member of the Board of Directors and President in 2022 and 2023 and received various honors including “Lion of the Year”, the “President’s Appreciation Award”, and the “Melvin Jones Founders Award” recognizing his excellence in service. David enjoyed watching any and all sporting events, especially LSU, the Saints and his favorite team, the LA Dodgers. He was also a classic car enthusiast and played golf in his spare time. He was devoted to his family and continually put his desires and needs aside to do anything he could for those he loved. He was known for his positive outlook. One of his greatest joys was making others laugh, and he will be remembered by all who knew him as a jokester with a quick wit and great sense of humor. In addition to his wife and children, David is survived by his mother Patricia Mackbee Aucoin, sister Sharon Workman Pender (Mike), and numerous nieces, nephews, and a great-niece. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank Wingenter, Anne Wingenter, Robert Mackbee and Theresa Mackbee, his father Robert Everett Workman, and his step-father Lloyd Aucoin. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Good Shepherd Church, 5122 W.
