Daniel Charles Schreiner Sr., 74, passed away December 27, 2021, at Ochsner Hospital surrounded by his family. He was a native of New Orleans and resident of River Ridge. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Janet, his son Daniel Jr., daughter-in-law Jennifer Nuss Schreiner, and grandsons Cole Daniel and Dylan Charles.
Born on May 12, 1947, in New Orleans he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Mattie Braud Schreiner. He was preceded in death by sisters Carol Kline (George), Marilyn Campbell (Jimmy), Arlene Lombard (Emile), and older brother Louis “Buddy” Schreiner.
He is also survived by sister Christine Sarchet (Jo Wayne), and Godfather of Dusty Ward and Dawn Cates, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was an avid decoy carver and outdoorsman that enjoyed both duck and deer hunting. His never wavering fandom of both the New Orleans Saints and all things LSU was his favorite topic of discussion, as long as he knew every last detail about his grandkids’ everyday life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Friday, January 7, 2022, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
