Catherine Rousselle Hassinger

Catherine Rousselle Hassinger passed away on Tuesday, October 05, 2021, at the age of 74. Beloved wife of Kenneth James Hassinger. Mother of Karen Hassinger Virga (John) and Kenneth James Hassinger, Jr. (Stephanie). Grandmother of Alexander James Hassinger, Abigail Marie Hassinger, John Joseph Virga IV, Grace Elizabeth Hassinger, James Kenneth Virga, and Andrew Michael Hassinger. Sister of Marie-Alice Rousselle. Aunt of Michael Joseph Hassinger (Wendy) and Charles Gerard Hassinger, Jr (Jennie Ann). Daughter of the late Lucille Rault Rousselle and Joseph Leo Rousselle.
 
Catherine was born and raised in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Parish in New Orleans. After graduating St. Stephen’s High School, she worked at the Army Corps of Engineers until beginning her lifelong job as devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. Catherine enjoyed the years she served as an adult advisor to St. Catherine CYO and as a member of the St. Benilde Grandparents Club. Her two favorite hobbies were spoiling her grandchildren and playing card games with lifelong friends each Saturday night. 
 
Relatives, friends, members of the St. Benilde School Community, members of ILA Local 1497, and employees of New Orleans Terminal, L.L.C. are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Saturday, October 9, 2021, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in the chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Masses be said in Catherine’s memory. Due to COVID 19 regulations, please follow the current restrictions and everyone attending is required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing.
