Catherine Lynn Cunningham

Catherine Lynn Cunningham (Cathy), born August 8, 1958, passed away on January 3, 2022. Cathy has joined her loving parents, Betty Jo Wright Cunningham and James Donald Cunningham, who have waited for her in heaven. A graduate of Chinchuba Institute, Christ the King, Archbishop Blenk High School (1977) and Our Lady of Holy Cross College (1982), Cathy completed her studies with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Magna Cum Laude, and was a member of the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity, serving as Vice-President. She worked at CNG Producing Company and Avondale/Northrop Grumman Ship Systems as a drafter. Cathy also served on numerous non-profit boards and became an advocate for the deaf community, working for equality and helping to improve awareness of the needs of the deaf. She was accomplished in her work, both personally and professionally, and earned a nomination representing the South Area as a national finalist for Quota’s Deaf Woman of the Year (1991). Cathy was an avid football fan, and you would be sure to see her yelling Geaux Saints, Geaux Tigers, or throwing her Saints doll at the TV on a bad call. You could always count on her to share severe weather reports with you too. Cathy will be sorely missed by her friend and partner of over 25 years, Camilla Nodier, her cousins, the Enyart and Nodier families, and many dear friends whom she loved as family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
