Beverly Ducote Hassinger Howard was called home by her Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 2, 2021, three weeks before her 85th birthday. Beverly was the wife of the late Henry Hassinger by first marriage and wife of the late Earl Howard by second marriage. She was the loving mother of Henry Hassinger, Jr. (Sharon), Theodore “Ted” Hassinger (Gabrielle) and the loving step-mother of Barbara Comberrel (Frank), Ronald Howard (Lucille), David Howard (Terre), and Marian Howard. Grandmother of Stefan, Justin, and Sophie Hassinger, Darrin Comberrel (Debra), Kellie Freeman (Sean), Gina Winter (Parrish), David Howard II (Libby), and Catherine Howard. Great-grandmother of Cole and Kacey Freeman, Victoria, Sophia and Natasha Winter, Shelby and Samantha Comberrel, and David “Tripp” Howard, III. She is also survived by a dwindling group of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Beverly was the daughter of the late Pearl and Theodore Ducote. She was also preceded in death by her brother John Ducote, her sister Marilyn Ducote (RSM), step-daughter Kathleen Brady, and grandson Blake Howard.
Beverly lived in Lakeview for 42 years and was active in both the Rosary Altar Society and the Rosarians of Lakeview. After Hurricane Katrina, she and Earl moved to Mandeville, where she became active in Our Lady of the Lake’s Altar Society.
Beverly loved to paint, sew, and crochet. She made dresses for children in Haiti, lap pads for the elderly, and last year, face masks for anybody who wanted them.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Friday, September 17, 2021, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass in the chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Due to COVID 19 regulations, please follow the current restrictions and everyone attending is required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing.
