Barbara Ann "Connie" Piazza Gioia

Barbara Ann “Connie” Piazza Gioia entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the age of 83. Devoted wife of Joseph G. Gioia for 63 years. Loving mother of Gina Gioia Baker (Al) and Joseph Vincent Gioia. Grandmother of Jamie Maria Baker, Jade Gioia Pizzo and Joseph V. Gioia, II. Great grandmother of Luca Joseph Pizzo. Sister of Jan P. McCluskey and the late Roy V. Piazza. Daughter of the late Vincent A. Piazza and Pheltha Leitell Piazza. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Lanel B. Gioia and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Also left to cherish her memories are her dear longtime friends, Marilyn A. Seiler (since kindergarten), Joan Saporito and Audrey Tournillion (from high school).
Connie was born in New Orleans on July 4, 1935 and was a graduate of Mater Dolorosa School and Holy Name of Jesus High School class of 1953. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and had a heart of gold that cannot be duplicated. She totally loved and adored her family and nothing made her happier than to be with them. We will all miss her but will never forget her and ask that she be kept in your thoughts and prayers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Monday, September 24, 2018, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
