WALSDORF, DAVID ARTHUR III  77, passed into eternal rest on February 17, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Judith Ann Gabb Walsdorf for 51 years. He is survived by a son, Daniel Walsdorf, and daughter Faith Hiett, 5 grandchildren: Robert Bonnette, Jr., Ronnie Surla, Kaleigh Miller, Elisha Pounds, and 12 great-grandchildren: Robert Bonnette, III, Hunter and Aiden Bonnette; Noah, Gracie, Gregory, and Sophia Miller; Reiley and Aubrey Surla; Isaiah, Elle, and Haleigh Pounds; and Damien Hiett. David is also survived by sisters Ethel Mae Freeman, Patricia Bridges, and Jean Palazzotta, brother Augustus “Gussy” Markins, and Step Mother-in-law Elizabeth McCants.
He was predeceased by his mother, Ethel Markins and father David Walsdorf, Jr., stepfather Augustus “Gus” Markins, and daughter Julie Laborde. He also lost sons David Walsdorf, IV, and Tracy Eugene Walsdorf, both of whom died from Batten Disease, a rare illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to a brief memorial ceremony on February 26, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Graham College Rd, Slidell (Exit 80 off I-12, on service road). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Batten Disease Support and Research Association, 1175 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43215.
